1961 Fleer Football Original Unopened Wax Box - 1st Series (24 Packs)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $8,225
Complete original wax box of 1961 Fleer football (1st series). A complete box of 1961 Fleer houses twenty-four 5-cent wax packs with each pack containing ten cards, for a total of 240 cards. The 1961 Fleer football set includes all the stars of the day, including Hall of Famers Jim Brown, Johnny Unitas, Bart Starr, and Paul Hornung, and rookie cards of Don Meredith and John Brodie. While it is impossible to provide guarantees with reference to grading of unopened material, there is, of course, the very real possibility that within this box are Gem Mint cards of these stars. The packs have been stored in their original box and have obviously been completely undisturbed since 1961; opening the top of the box all appear pristine but close examination reveal that the wrappers of many packs have tiny corner tears that are natural due to normal rustling (this is very common with wax packs) and the seal has broken on four packs (they have never been opened and the gum is still there but the wax seal has broken). The box is in technically Vg condition but displays as Excellent. This is a very rarely seen complete unopened 1961 Fleer football box that looks today exactly as it did fifty years ago! Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $8,225
