1966-1967 Topps Hockey Complete Set (132)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $4,994
Complete 132-card set of 1966-1967 Topps Hockey, highlighted by a high-grade rookie card of Hall of Famer Bobby Orr, arguably the greatest hockey defenseman to play the game. 50% range from Ex to Nr/Mt (averaging Ex-Mt), 50% grade Vg to Vg-Ex. The flush-to-the-border design of 1966-1967 Topps Hockey makes the corners and edges of these cards particularly sensitive to wear, and nearly impossible to collect in high grade. Three cards have been graded and encapsulated by SGC (all submitted by REA). Keys: #13 Sawchuk (Ex-Mt), 35 Orr RC (EX/NM 80), 62 Mikita (Nr/Mt), 63 Esposito (Ex-Mt), 64 Hull LL (Vg), 66 Checklist (Ex), 109 Howe (VG/EX 50), 112 Hull (VG/EX 50), 120 Checklist (checked in blue ink, otherwise Vg-Ex), 121 Howe AS (Ex), and 125 Hull AS (Vg-Ex). This is a very pleasing mid- to high-grade complete set of this classic hockey-card issue, with all the great stars of the era, with many condition highlights, and with a particularly strong example of the key to the set: Bobby Orr's rookie card. The equivalent SMR value for just the Bobby Orr rookie (not including the additional 131 cards in the set) is $1,650. Total: 132 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $4,994
