1931 W. A. A. C. Churchman "Prominent Golfers" (Large) Bobby Jones and Harry Vardon - Both PSA NM-MT 8
Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $940
Stunning ultra high-grade pair of Hall of Famers from the 1931 W. A. & A. C. Churchman "Prominent Golfers" large-variety series, both graded NM-MT 8 by PSA: #5 Bobby Jones (only five graded higher) and 9 Harry Vardon (only two graded higher). Each card features a caricature of a professional golfer with a detailed background, and the golfer's name along the bottom. Inscribed as "A Series of 12" on the reverse, this large-card variety of "Prominent Golfers" is extremely rare and compliments its 50-card smaller version of the same year. Most advanced collectors would agree that this larger-card variety is about 25 times as rare as the scarce smaller version. Each card is perfectly centered, with four razor-sharp corners, bold colors, and flawless registration. This is an exceptionally high quality, high-grade pair of Hall of Famers from one of the premier golf sets of the era. The SMR value for the individual cards is $1,525. Total: 2 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $800+. SOLD FOR $940
