Michael Jordan Limited-Edition LeRoy Neiman Serigraph
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $705
Titled Orlando Magic , issued in 1990, numbered "AP 43/50" (artist's proof), and flawlessly signed in pencil along the lower margin by LeRoy Neiman (grading "10"). Edition limited to just 306 total impressions (250 numbered impressions, 50 artist's proofs, and 6 printer's proofs). This work, issued in commemoration of the Orlando Magic's inaugural 1989/1990 season, pictures Reggie Theus and Derek Anderson (the team's number-one draft pick) crashing the boards against the Bulls' Michael Jordan. This is the first of only two Michael Jordan serigraphs ever produced by Neiman. It is also the rarer of the two. The second, which features a montage of Jordan images, was issued the following year, but in slightly greater numbers (376 total impressions). This is one of Neiman's classic basketball works and one that would be perfect for display in either home or office. The serigraph, which measures 26.25 x 35 inches (image area), displays moderate vertical rippling throughout and is otherwise in Near Mint condition. The piece has been mounted (by means of tape on the reverse) to total dimensions of 34 x 44 inches. Accompanied by its original COA issued by Knoedler Publishing, Inc. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $705
