Bob Dylan Junior and Senior High-School Yearbooks (2)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,410
Celebrity high-school yearbooks have become a popular field of collectibles in recent years. Presented here are two highly desirable examples dating, respectively, from the junior and senior years of singer/songwriter Bob Dylan. Each of these books has been consigned directly from a former classmate of Dylan's who was one year his junior. The most significant of the two yearbooks is the 1959 edition dating from Dylan's senior year at Hibbing High School in Hibbing, Minnesota. Dylan, whose birth name was Robert Zimmerman, is pictured on page seventy-six in a standard yearbook portrait pose. While he is not featured anywhere else in the yearbook, either by name or image, his musical ambitions are summarized in the brief caption below his name: "Robert Zimmerman: to join 'Little Richard'- Latin Club 2; Social Studies Club 4." The 1958 edition dates from Dylan's junior year and pictures him simply as a member of his respective class on page forty-seven. Both yearbooks, each titled Hematite , display moderate wear and the interior pages feature numerous student inscriptions to the original owner (neither, however, is signed by Dylan). The 1959 yearbook also bears a protective plastic cover. Each remains in Excellent condition overall. This is an exceptionally desirable pair of celebrity yearbooks offering a unique look back at the roots of Bob Dylan, who would soon become the musical spokesman for an entire generation. Total: 2 yearbooks. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,410
