Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $1,410

Collection of four Hall of Famers, all dating from the 1910 era, from three different highly regarded issues, highlighted by two Christy Mathewson cards. The four cards have each been graded and encapsulated by PSA or SGC. 1) 1911 T201 Mecca Double Folders (2 cards) : Walter Johnson (SGC VG/EX 50; Vg-Ex due to a tiny corner crease in the lower left, but otherwise the card has an Excellent appearance) and Christy Mathewson (PSA VG-EX 4; bright and clean, with a hint of corner wear, and a tiny crease on back). 2) 1912 T202 Hassan Triple Folders: "Just Before the Battle" Mathewson/Meyers (SGC EX+ 70; very attractive card with a slightly irregular factory cut along the top edge). 3) 1915 E145 Cracker Jack: #136 Rabbit Maranville (PSA EX 5; centered to the right, very crisp and clean, with just a hint of wear to the corners). Four sharp-looking quality cards of Hall of Famers from three of the premier baseball-card sets of the early twentieth century. The equivalent SMR value of the group (there is no SMR value for the EX+ 5.5 grade, so the one example graded at this level was calculated using the EX 5 value) is $1,795. Total: 4 cards. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200. SOLD FOR $1,410
