Collection of fifty different T206 White Border cards in various grades, including fourteen Hall of Famers, highlighted by Walter Johnson, Nap Lajoie, and Christy Mathewson. Thirty-eight of the fifty cards have the unusual Polar Bear back. Highlights: Baker (Gd), Beckley (back damage, otherwise Vg), Bender/no trees (Vg), Brown/Chicago (Pr-Fr), Chance/bat (Pr), Chance/yellow (possible slight trim, otherwise Fr-Gd), Chase/dark cap (Gd), Evers/Chicago (Pr), Johnson/hands at chest (Gd-Vg), Joss/pitching (Vg), Kleinow/Boston (Fr), Lajoie/bat (Gd), Marquard/throwing (Gd), Mathewson/dark cap (Vg), McGraw/cap (Gd), Smith/Chicago & Boston (Gd), and Wheat (Gd-Vg). The balance of the cards in this collection grade as follows: fourteen cards range from Gd to Vg, and nineteen are lesser (mostly Poor). These cards were part of a particularly exciting newly discovered original-owner collection that includes forty-nine T204 Ramlys, four T208 Firesides, and other 1910-era cards, all of which are presented in several lots in this auction. Tobacco cards in this condition represent perhaps the best value among all vintage baseball cards. This is a very attractive original-owner collection of classic T206 tobacco cards. Total: 50 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $3,525
