1911 T208 Cullivan's Fireside Rube Oldring

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,233

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. T208 Cullivan's Fireside tobacco card featuring outfielder Rube Oldring of the Philadelphia Athletics. This is one of three T208s that were among the highlights of a small but remarkable original-owner collection that consisted of four E90-1s (including Joe Jackson), fourteen T206s, sixteen T205s, seven T201s, eleven E93s, six E96s, six E92 Dockmans, and nineteen E75 boxers, all new to the organized collecting world and presented in a total of six lots in this auction. The card has been downgraded from a much higher level because of a few minor creases (which are not particular serious and are more easily visible from the reverse), none of which have an impact on the striking image. The back is clean and crisp. This is a very attractive T208 Fireside tobacco example with an appearance far superior to its technically accurate SGC grade. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $2,233
