1911 T208 Cullivan's Fireside "Home Run" Baker

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,113

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. 1911 T208 Cullivan's Fireside card of Hall of Famer Frank "Home Run" Baker from this legendary issue, which is universally recognized as one of rarest of all tobacco-card sets. This is one of four T208s that were among the highlights of a small but remarkable original-owner collection that included forty-nine T204 Ramlys, four T208 Firesides, fifty T206s, and sixty T205s, all new to the organized collecting world and presented in a total of sixteen lots in this auction. The offered example of Hall of Famer "Home Run" Baker has a flawless image set against a striking blue background, a few light creases, and a stain in the lower left corner. The card is centered slightly to the top left with a very slight natural diamond cut. The reverse is fairly clean with a bold advertisement for Cullivan's Fireside. This is an exceptional medium-grade T208 example and one of the few Hall of Famers from this extremely rare set. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $4,113
