1911 T205 Gold Border Hall of Famer SGC-Graded Collection Including Christy Mathewson (7)

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,700

Collection of seven very high quality Hall of Famers (including two notable rarities) from the T205 Gold Borders series, highlighted by Christy Mathewson, each graded and encapsulated by SGC (except two PSA): 1) Chief Bender (EX/NM 80); 2) Frank Chance (PSA EX 5); 3) Fred Clarke (EX+ 70); 4) Eddie Collins/Mouth open (EX+ 70, this is the rare variety of Collins in the T205 set and one of the keys to the set); 5) Clark Griffth (EX/NM 80); 6) Christy Mathewson (EX 60, one of the key Hall of Famers in the T205 set; bright and crisp, with flawless registration, centered just a hint to the left); 7) Bobby Wallace/No cap, two lines of 1910 stats (PSA VG-EX 4; the T205 Wallace with no cap, in addition to being a HOFer, is a rarity in the T205 set). This is a very impressive looking group, comprised exclusively of Hall of Famers (including two HOF rarities), all in an extremely desirable Vg-Ex to Ex-Mt condition, from one of the most popular sets of the 1910 era. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grades is $5,230. Total: 7 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000+. SOLD FOR $4,700
