1911 M116 Sporting Life Ty Cobb - Pastel

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,350

Graded EX 5 by PSA. Very sharp looking example of Ty Cobb from the M116 Sporting Life set, one of the most popular of all 1910-era issues. M116s have always been highly appreciated by collectors for their distinctive style and rarity relative to the more commonly seen tobacco cards of the era. Ty Cobb, of course, is one of the key cards of the series. Bright and extremely clean both front and back. The corners are square with just a slight hint of even wear, a little more so in the bottom corners, which is all that is keeping this card from an even higher grade. The reverse is flawless, with the advertising for Sporting Life printed crisply and boldly in blue. No creases! The centering is ever so slightly low towards the bottom border. This is a very attractive high-grade example of one of Ty Cobb's most classic cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,350
