1914 T216-2 Mino Cigarettes Ray Demmitt - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,233
Graded EX 5 by PSA. Highest graded! Extremely rare sample card of 1911 T216-2 Mino Cigarettes featuring Ray Demmitt of Chicago. The T216-2 Mino Cigarettes set is one of the rarest of all 1910-era tobacco-card issues. Produced by the People's Tobacco Co. of New Orleans, the T216-2 set was regionally issued only in the Louisiana area. Cards from this set feature advertising from three People's Tobacco Co. brands: Kotton, Mino, and Virginia Extra. All are rare; Mino may be the rarest of the three advertising backs. The offered sample card features a batting pose set against a striking bold red background, with four square corners (a little corner wear in the lower left), no creases, and very well centered. The reverse is clean and beautifully centered with a crisply printed bold advertisement for Mino Cigarettes. T216s tend to survive in very modest condition, which makes this sample all the more noteworthy. Only 132 T216 examples (of all cards and all back varieties) have ever been graded by PSA; of these, only five have been graded EX 5 and only one better (EX-MT 6). This is an extremely high grade sample from this rare and important tobacco set. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $2,233
