1919 Zeenut PCL Complete Set Minus 2 (142/144)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $5,581

Complete set minus 2 (missing only Arbuckle and Vance, which are both offered separately in this auction) of 142 different 1919 Zeenut cards featuring Pacific Coast League players. The 1919 Zeenut set is comprised of players from eight different teams (Los Angeles, Oakland, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Seattle, and Vernon). A complete set (minus 2) such as this is very rarely seen. This is the first time we have ever offered a near-set of 1919 Zeenuts. 30% of the cards range from Vg to Ex (with a couple Ex-Mt), and 70% range from Pr to Gd-Vg. Key: Bohne (Gd-Vg). As is usually the case with Zeenuts, the coupon at the bottom of each card has been neatly clipped away, as intended, to be redeemed for valuable prizes. Also as is usually the case with Zeenuts, most of the cards (even those in the lowest grades) have a far superior appearance than suggested by their technically accurate modest grades. This "comes with the territory" with Zeenuts. This 1919 Zeenut set (minus 2) is part of an extraordinary comprehensive Zeenut collection, the finest we have ever handled. The collection was assembled over a period of many years by an extremely advanced pioneer collector, and has been broken down by year into a number of smaller but still very substantial lots. Total: 142 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000++. SOLD FOR $5,581
