1934-1936 R318 Batter-Up and 1937 V300 O-Pee-Chee Hall of Famer PSA-Graded Collection (6)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,350

Collection of six very high-quality cards of Hall of Famers from the two different classic "stand-up" gum-card sets of the 1930s: 1934-1936 R318 "Batter-Up" and 1937 V300 O-Pee-Chee. All six cards are key Hall of Famers from their respective sets and have been graded and encapsulated by PSA. The collection consists of the following: 1) 1934-1936 R318 Batter-Up (4 cards): #28 Jimmy Foxx (EX-MT 6), 45 Tony Lazzeri (VG-EX 4), 57 Hank Greenberg (NM+ 7.5), and 144 Jimmy Foxx (NM 7). 2) 1937 V300 O-Pee-Chee (2 cards): #117 Tony Lazzeri (EX-MT 6) and 136 Red Ruffing (NM 7). These cards (all submitted for grading by REA) were very carefully chosen for purchase by our consignor in the early days of conventions in the 1980s, long before the advent of professional grading, precisely due to their outstanding condition. This is an extremely attractive high-grade group of 1934 to 1937 Hall of Famers, very carefully assembled by a dedicated Hall of Fame collector one card at a time with a very discerning eye for condition and overall visual appeal. The SMR value for the group is $2,890. Total: 6 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,350
