1949 Bowman #229 Ed Lopat Rookie - PSA MINT 9

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $940

Graded MINT 9 by PSA. One of only four examples graded at this level with none graded higher. Stellar example of Ed Lopat's rookie card and a high number from the 1949 Bowman series. Ed Lopat was one of the Yankees' most reliable starters during their 1949-1953 baseball dynasty, winning 80 games over that five-year span. The card is perfectly bright and clean, both front and back, with flawless color, a striking red background, perfect registration, four razor-sharp corners, and is centered very slightly to the left (approximately 40/60 L/R). The reverse is also crisp and flawlessly clean. This is a tremendous ultra high-grade example of Lopat’s first gum card from the classic 1949 Bowman set. SMR value for the assigned grade is $1,200. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $940
