1949 Bowman Uncut Sheet Including Stan Musial

Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,410

Complete 36-card uncut sheet of 1949 Bowman baseball including Stan Musial. This is a final production sheet with double-printed, out-of-registry backs. The cards appearing on this sheet are #1-36, including Lou Boudreau (HOF), Bobby Thomson, Bobby Brown, Stan Musial (HOF), George Kell (HOF), Bob Feller (HOF), Ralph Kiner (HOF), Warren Spahn (HOF), Vic Raschi, and Pee Wee Reese (HOF). A few very minor creases are noticeable on the right portion of the sheet and in the corners. A tiny tear is on the top edge. Despite imperfections, this sheet has a tremendous display value and an overall Excellent appearance. We have seen other examples of this sheet with the exact same printing imperfection on the reverse. We believe that when a small quantity of these sheets were printed, Bowman quality control immediately noticed the error and destroyed the small print run of sheets with out-of-registry backs, but not before giving away a bunch of sheets to neighborhood kids. Few have survived and they are rarely seen today, but many years ago examples turned up every once in a while, especially in the Philadelphia area. This is a magnificent early original Bowman baseball uncut sheet highlighted by one of the key Hall of Famers in the set. It is also a rarely offered, relatively affordable, yet still ideal for display, alternative to a problem-free sheet with a perfectly printed reverse. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,410
