1950 Bowman Complete Set (252)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,880

76% range from Vg-Ex to Ex (includes some Ex-Mt), 12% Vg, and 12% lesser (mostly Pr). We have selected three cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. Keys: #1 Parnell RC (Gd), 3 DiMaggio (Fr), 6 Feller (Vg-Ex), 8 Kell (Vg), 11 Rizzuto (Pr), 19 Spahn (Vg-Ex), 21 Reese (Vg), 22 Robinson (SGC VG/EX 50), 23 Newcombe RC (Vg-Ex), 32 Roberts (Pr), 33 Kiner (Vg-Ex), 35 Slaughter (Vg), 37 Appling (Vg), 39 Doby (Fr), 40 Lemon (Vg), 43 Doerr (Vg-Ex), 46 Berra (Pr), 58 Furillo (Vg), 59 Branca (Gd-Vg), 62 Kluszewski (Ex), 71 Schoendienst (Vg), 75 Campanella (Vg-Ex), 77 Snider (Vg-Ex), 84 Ashburn (SGC EX 60), 94 Boudreau (Ex), 98 Williams (SGC VG 40), 112 Hodges (Vg-Ex), 139 Mize (Pr), 148 Wynn (Ex), 217 Stengel (Vg), 219 Bauer (Pr), 220 Durocher (Ex), 229 Frisch (Vg-Ex). The 1950 Bowman set is often overlooked by collectors simply because it does not include a Mantle or Mays rookie, but this was a landmark set in its day, being the first postwar baseball issue to feature full-color artwork instead of photographs. We rarely have the opportunity to offer a complete set of 1950 Bowman and over the years have consistently found it to be among the most elusive sets of the era. Also included is an original five-cent 1950 Bowman wrapper in Good condition (wrapped around an extra #229 Frisch card). This is a very attractive mid-grade complete set of this classic early Bowman issue. Total: 252 cards plus one wrapper. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $1,880
