1888 N162 Goodwin Champions Dan Brouthers - PSA NM 7
Starting Bid - $1,500, Sold For - $4,700
Graded NM 7 by PSA. One of only five examples graded at this level by PSA, with just two graded higher. Extraordinary example of Hall of Famer Dan Brouthers from this very popular and colorful set of fifty, which includes just eight baseball players, issued by Old Judge and Gypsy Queen. This striking N162 Goodwin Champions example features a portrait of Brouthers, one of the nineteenth century's most legendary stars. Brouthers was a five-time batting champion who also led the NL in slugging percentage each of his first six full seasons. It is remarkable to find any nineteenth-century card in such spectacular condition, let alone an N162. Bright and clean, with just a hint of corner wear. The reverse of the card has just a touch of surface wear along the top and minor edge wear. N162s are universally recognized as one of pre-1900 card collecting's most highly regarded sets. This is an amazing high-grade classic nineteenth-century baseball card of one of the era's greatest stars and would be a highlight in even the most advanced world-class collection. SMR value for the assigned grade is $6,500. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000+. SOLD FOR $4,700
