1953 H-O Instant Oatmeal Records Complete Set (4)
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $1,058
Complete set of all four records from this unusual 1950s premium issue. All four are still in their original mailing envelopes with the cardboard order form inserts. While appearing to be large round cards of extraordinary production quality, they are actually 45 rpm records which feature playing tips by the respective stars when played on a record player. The set consists of Roy Campanella, Duke Snider, Allie Reynolds, and "Whitey" Lockman. The records measure 4.75 inches in diameter and each has a color player portrait on the front, with a black-and-white action pose on the reverse. These premiums could be obtained only by mail, in exchange for 25 cents and two H-O Instant Oatmeal box tops. Near Mint to Mint condition (except Snider which has a small surface crease at the top and is otherwise also in Near Mint to Mint condition). Each record is accompanied by its original envelope (the envelopes have the respective player's initials written very small in pencil and a few very minor edge tears). Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $1,058
