70% range from Ex to Nr/Mt (averaging Ex-Mt), 10% Vg-Ex, and 20% slightly trimmed (still very nice looking cards, most with Ex-Mt appearance). 1953 Bowman Color partial set includes 113 of the 160 cards in the set, including the key card #59 Mickey Mantle. Missing forty-seven cards for completion: #2, 6, 17, 25, 39, 44 Bauer/Berra/Mantle, 62 Kluszewski, 65 Roberts, 66, 70, 73, 77, 78, 89, 99 Spahn, 103, 104, 107, 110, 111, 112, 116, 119, 120, 121 Berra, 123, 124, 126, 127, 128, 130, 131, 134, 135, 136, 137, 140, 142, 143 Lopez, 145, 148, 150, 154, 155, 156, 157, and 159. The 1953 Bowman set has always been one of the most popular card issues of the era. Nineteen cards have been graded and encapsulated by PSA (except one SGC). Keys: # 1 D. Williams (Ex), 9 Rizzuto (EX 5), 10 Ashburn (EX+ 5.5), 18 Fox (trimmed), 21 Garagiola (NM 7), 32 Musial (NM 7), 33 Reese (VG-EX 4), 36 Minoso (Ex), 40 Doby (trimmed), 46 Campanella (NM 7), 51 Irvin (NM 7), 55 Durocher (trimmed), 57 Boudreau (trimmed), 59 Mantle (SGC NM 84), 61 Kell (trimmed), 80 Kiner (Ex), 81 Slaughter (EX-MT 6), 92 Hodges (rejected by PSA for evidence of trimming), 93 Rizzuto/Martin (NM 7), 97 Mathews (EX-MT 6), 101 Schoendienst (Ex-Mt), 114 Feller (EX 5), 117 Snider (rejected by PSA for evidence of altered stock), 118 Martin (Ex), 146 Wynn (trimmed), 153 Ford (VG-EX 4). The additional graded cards are as follows: #3 (EX 5), 23 (NM 7), 28 (EX-MT 6), 42 (EX-MT 6), 50 (NM 7), and 52 (NM 7). This is a very attractive partial set of this classic 1950s gum-card issue, representing a great start towards a mid- to high-grade set. The equivalent SMR value for just seventeen of the graded cards (not including the VG-EX 4s of #33 Reese and #153 Ford, and the ninety-four ungraded cards) is $4,345. Total: 113 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+. SOLD FOR $5,581
