Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $9,988
Outstanding mid- to high-grade collection of ten different cards (out of the twenty cards in the set) from the 1954 Wilson Franks set, one of the most desirable of all 1950s food issues. The collection is highlighted by Hall of Famers Nelson Fox, Red Schoendienst, and Enos Slaughter. The ten cards represent 50% of the set of this popular regional issue. All ten cards have been graded and encapsulated by PSA (nine of the ten were submitted by REA when we originally offered the Conlon Collection in 2009). Six cards grade Near Mint or better, and four cards range from Ex to Ex-Mt. PSA condition report: One MINT 9 (OC): White. Five NM 7: Ennis, Hodges, Jablonski, Schoendienst (HOF), and Slaughter (HOF, MC). Two EX-MT 6: Fox (HOF) and Pafko. Two EX 5: Hack (EX+ 5.5) and Richards. The Wilson Franks set is highly prized by collectors as one of the most attractive and desirable of all 1950s regional food issues. This is a very attractive collection and a rare opportunity to acquire a significant foundation for the assembly of a high-quality complete set of this extremely popular 1950s food issue. The SMR value for just eight of the ten PSA-graded cards (not including the two qualified cards) is $5,450. Total: 10 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000+. SOLD FOR $9,988
