1954 Stahl-Meyer Franks Mickey Mantle PSA NM 7 - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $23,500
Graded NM 7 by PSA. Highest-graded example by PSA or SGC! In fact, the next-highest graded 1954 Stahl-Meyer Franks Mickey Mantle by either PSA or SGC is a VG-EX example! Extraordinary and absolutely stunning ultra high-grade example of 1954 Stahl-Meyer Mickey Mantle. This is a miracle card! Stahl-Meyer Franks cards are among the rarest and most attractive of all regional issues. They are also among the most difficult to find in high grade. Stahl-Meyers were regionally issued in the New York area, one card per package, with Stahl-Meyer Franks. They are usually found with serious condition problems relating to their method of issue, including creases and hot-dog stains. This is an unbelievably high grade Stahl-Meyer of Mickey Mantle, the key card to the set. The card was consigned by an extremely advanced old-time collector who specialized in rare Mantle items and has saved this piece since the 1980s as one of his favorites. He purchased this card in an SCD auction from Al Rosen ("Mr. Mint") and at the time Rosen had graded it as Mint. We can't blame him! It is a gem! We also grade this card MINT! The card is perfectly clean both front and back, with bold colors, and flawless image clarity. We believe this to be the finest 1954 Stahl-Meyer of Mantle in existence and we cannot imagine a finer example. Submitted for grading by REA. This is a most exceptional example of one of the keys of all 1950s regional issues, and one of the most highly prized of all Mantle cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000++. SOLD FOR $23,500
