Grades 5% Nr/Mt-Mt, 20% Nr/Mt, 60% Ex-Mt, 15% Ex (with a few slightly lesser). This is an extremely attractive, high-grade complete set of 1957 Topps baseball. Of the 407 cards in the set, eighty (20%) have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA (except one SGC), including the many key cards (Mantle, Williams, Mays, Aaron, and B. Robinson). The PSA grades are as follows: Four NM-MT 8: #3 (OC), 10 Mays, 262, and 273 (OC). Twenty-seven NM 7: #2 Berra, 12, 18 Drysdale RC (ST), 20 Aaron, 29, 55 Banks, 83, 95 Mantle, 98, 117, 133, 212 Colavito RC, 226, 260, 271, 275 (ST), 278, 301 (SGC NM 84), 304, 316, 321, 328 B. Robinson RC, 335, 351, 355, 356, and 361. Forty-two EX-MT 6: #1 Williams, 7 Aparicio, 14, 22, 25 Ford, 27, 32, 36, 40 Wynn (PD), 49, 67, 89, 90 Spahn, 104, 110, 170 Snider, 175, 208, 209, 213, 219, 221, 227, 237, 242, 253, 257, 259, 279, 285, 289, 296, 298, 305, 307, 319, 326, 330, 334, 362, 363, and 407 Mantle/Berra. Six EX 5: #30 Reese, 52, 106, 247, 297, and 320. One VG 3: #290. Additional Keys (not graded): # 15 Roberts (stains on back, otherwise Ex-Mt), 24 Mazeroski (Nr/Mt), 35 F. Robinson RC (Vg-Ex), 38 Fox (Ex-Mt), 62 Martin (tiny tear on the left border, otherwise Ex), 70 Ashburn (Ex), 76 Clemente (Ex-Mt), 80 Hodges (Ex), 97 Yankees Team (Ex), 125 Kaline (Vg), 165 Kluszewski (Ex-Mt), 210 Campanella (Ex), 250 Mathews (Ex), 286 Richardson RC (Vg), 302 Koufax (Ex), 312 Kubek RC (Ex-Mt), 324 Dodgers Team (Gd-Vg), 338 Bunning RC (Ex-Mt), and 400 Dodgers' Sluggers (Ex). Also included with the set is one Contest card: June 22 (10/90 L/R, otherwise Ex-Mt). The balance of the cards which have not been encapsulated range from Ex to Nr/Mt, averaging Ex-Mt overall. It is expensive to encapsulate a complete set with hundreds of cards, but the collector who put this set together did make the investment of grading eighty cards, which for a set that is not entirely graded is an extremely substantial selection. Bright and crisp complete set of this classic 1950s issue. The SMR value for just seventy-five of the eighty PSA-graded cards (not including the five qualified cards, the one VG 3 card, and the 328 ungraded cards) is $4,530. Total: 408 cards (set of 407 plus 1 contest card). Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$5,000. SOLD FOR $5,581
