1964 Topps Complete Set (587) with 131 PSA-Graded Cards

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $12,925

Grades 95% Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (including a few Mint cards), 5% slightly lesser (mostly Ex). This set was purchased from Wholesale Cards (one of the hobby's first full-time card dealerships) in the year of issue by our consignor, an old-time collector, and has been stored in the closet ever since. Fresh, crisp, extremely consistent, super high-grade set. This is one of the finest complete sets of this mid-1960s classic that we have ever offered. Of the 587 cards in the set, 131 (22%) have been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. Included are ten MINT 9s, seventy-eight NM-MT 8s, thirty-nine NM 7s, two EX-MT 6s, and two EX 5s. This is a tremendous high-grade set! The PSA grades are as follows: Ten MINT 9: #27, 167 Pinella RC, 184, 194, 285 Roberts, 287 Conigliaro RC, 380 Ford, 438, 485, and 568. Ungraded Keys: #1 NL ERA LDRS (Koufax, Ex), 5 NL SO LDRS (Koufax, Nr/Mt), 29 Brock (Ex-Mt), 35 Mathews (Vg-Ex), 125 Rose (Vg-Ex), 177 Killebrew (Nr/Mt), 210 Yastrzemski (miscut along the bottom, otherwise Nr/Mt), 230 B. Robinson (Vg), 243 Allen RC (Ex-Mt), 244 LaRussa RC (Nr/Mt-Mt), 250 Kaline (90/10 T/B, otherwise Nr/Mt), 260 F. Robinson (Ex), 342 Stargell (Nr/Mt), 468 Perry (miscut along the right, otherwise Nr/Mt), and 550 Hubbs (Ex). The balance of the cards which have not been encapsulated range from Nr/Mt to Nr/Mt-Mt (with a few slightly lesser). It is expensive to encapsulate a complete set with hundreds of cards, but the consignor did make the investment of grading 131 cards, which for a set that is not entirely graded is an extremely substantial selection. Exceptionally strong, very clean, crisp high-grade complete set in overall Nr/Mt condition including 131 graded cards (with 78 PSA NM-MT 8s). The SMR value for 127 PSA-graded cards (not including the four qualified cards including Mantle and the 456 ungraded cards) is $5,239. Total: 587 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$4,000++. SOLD FOR $12,925
