1967 Topps "Punch-Outs" Uncut Panel Collection (6 panels/18 cards)
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,644
Collection of six (five different) extremely rare uncut three-card panels of 1967 Topps "Punch-Outs" (total eighteen cards), highlighted by ten Hall of Famers, including Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, and two Al Kaline. This is one of rarest sets of all 1960s Topps test issues. This set was distributed in just a few regions in the Maryland area. They were issued in cello packs containing two three-card panels (six cards per pack), with cards perforated so that they may be separated from one another. Each of these uncut panels (approx. 2-1/2 x 14-1/8 inches) features three game cards with its respective "Team Captain" pictured on the top. The reverse of the cards feature instructions on how to play a baseball game by punching out the small squares. Single cards from this extremely rare test issue pop up from time to time, but uncut three-card panels as originally issued are almost never seen. Presented are six uncut three-card panels from this rare Topps test baseball issue: 1) Green/Hank Aaron/Carl Yastrzemski; 2) Willie Stargell/Pepitone/Willie Mays (slight miscut along the bottom); 3) Frank Robinson/K. Boyer/Romano; 4-5) two Orlando Cepeda/Al Kaline/Groat; and 6) Hunt/Howard/Billy Williams. Each of these examples is fully attached, and all have clean backs. Each panel is in extraordinary Nr/Mt-Mt condition. These cards have been saved as favorites by our consignor, an old-time collector who was long ago a connoisseur of Topps Test material, since he purchased them in the 1980s. The six panels (representing a total of 18 cards) are accompanied by the three cello wrappers in which these cards were originally packaged. The cello wrappers have been very neatly opened with great care and are in Excellent condition. This is an extraordinary group of six uncut three-card panels from this extremely rare Topps test issue, in their ideal and rarely seen original uncut form. Total: 9 items (6 uncut panels representing 18 cards and three cello wrappers). Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000++. SOLD FOR $2,644
