1982 and 1983 Topps Baseball Vending Cases (2)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,233
Two unopened Topps baseball vending cases from 1982 and 1983. Each case contains twenty-four boxes with 500 cards per box, for a total of forty-eight boxes and 24,000 cards. The 1982 and 1983 Topps sets include rookie cards of Ripken, Boggs, Gwynn, and Sandberg and key cards of Rose and Ryan. While it is impossible to provide guarantees with reference to grading of unopened material, it would be hard to imagine that these two cases do not include a generous supply of Mint 9s and Gem Mint 10s of every player in the set, including Ripken and Gwynn. The 2011 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards book value for a 1982 Topps vending box is $60 and the book value for 1983 Topps vending box is $65 (for a total book value of $3,000). The top flaps of the outer boxes are not sealed (so one can actually see the vending boxes of cards inside if desired) but all the original boxes are intact and guaranteed unopened and unsearched. The cases have typical outer box wear. Please Note: due to the size and/or weight of this lot, shipping charges may be substantial. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,233
