Circa 1910 "Home-Run Stogie" Cigar Tin
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,259
Extremely rare "Home-Run Stogie" cigar tin features a magnificent baseball scene on both sides. The tin originally held fifty cigars and was designed to stand on the counter at the tobacco store, dispensing cigars "3 for 5 cents." This is an extremely graphic tin, ideal for display, and though not well known in the baseball-collecting field due to its great rarity, it is very well known as a classic and is highly prized in the advertising and tin-collecting fields. Manufactured by The J. A. Rigby Cigars Company of Mansfield, Ohio. Its outstanding design makes this tin ideal for display in many types of collections. This is a particularly beautiful example. Minor professional touch-up restoration is noted for the sake of accuracy (not visible to the naked eye). This piece has an extraordinary display value for any early tin, and an overall appearance of a "9" on a scale of "1" to "10." Diameter: 4.25 inches. Height: 6 inches. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $3,259
