1907 PC805 Novelty Cutlery Ty Cobb

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $4,740

Magnificent example of one of Ty Cobb's most stunning cards, from the very rare and highly regarded PC805 Novelty Cutlery postcard set, issued in 1907. This has always been one of our favorite Ty Cobb cards. This is a newly discovered example, just recently found by chance in an antique shop by a very knowledgeable longtime collector who has different collecting interests, but of course could not pass up the opportunity. Consigned ungraded as found, and submitted for grading by REA. All Novelty Cutlery postcards are extremely rare. This is a virtually impossible-to-find and extremely significant Ty Cobb rarity. Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC, falling short of EX due to just a touch too much even corner wear. The postcard reverse has never been mailed. Bright and clean, both front and back. This is a stunning example of one of the most impressive, rarest, and earliest of all Ty Cobb cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $4,740
