1938 Chicago Cubs World Series Press Pin
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $948
While the Chicago Cubs' four trips to the World Series between the years 1929 and 1938 failed to produce even one World Championship, fans can at least take solace in the fact that the club's respective press pins from those years rank among the most attractive ever produced. Offered here is what is widely considered the finest of the quartet: a 1938 Chicago Cubs World Series press pin. Like the others, it is also rare compared to other World Series press pins from the era. The prevailing theory regarding their scarcity today is that the frugal Cubs management simply ordered fewer pins than their World Series counterparts in an effort to cut costs. The offered example is in Excellent to Mint condition. Manufactured by Lambert Bros.; brooch; approximately 1 x 1.25 inches. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $948
