1924 New York Giants World Series Press Pin
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $0
New York Giants press pin issued for the 1924 World Series against the Washington Senators. While this is an authentic 1924 World Series press pin, it is currently in the form of a pendant and no longer features its original threaded-post reverse. The threaded post has been removed and a tiny hole has been drilled in the upper right portion of the pin to accommodate a circular clasp through which a chain can be placed. In this manner the pin can now be worn as part of a necklace or bracelet. The octagonal shaped pin features a crossed bat-and-ball motif at the top, with the year ("1924") and locale ("Polo Grounds") displayed along the base in relief. "World Series/Giants" is displayed in gilt letters upon two blue enamel panels in the center. The Senators defeated the Giants in seven games in the 1924 World Series, which also marked the final fall classic of John McGraw's long and illustrious managerial career. Without reference to the modified reverse, the pin displays only slight wear and is in Excellent to Mint condition. Manufactured by Dieges & Clust; modified reverse. Approximately 1 inch in diameter. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $0
