1910-1912 P2 Sweet Caporal Pins PSA-Graded Collection, Including Cobb and Mathewson (25)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,304
High-grade collection of twenty-five pins from the very popular circa 1910 P2 Sweet Caporal pin set, highlighted by sixteen Hall of Famers, including Ty Cobb and Christy Mathewson, each graded and encapsulated by PSA. The PSA grades are as follows: Five NM 7: Cobb (HOF, small letters), Devlin, Hoblitzell, Jennings (HOF, small letters), and Wiltse. Fifteen EX-MT 6: Brown (HOF, small letters), Clarke (HOF, small letters), two Duffy (HOF, large and small letters), Hooper (HOF), Jennings (HOF, small letters), Mathewson (HOF, small letters), McGraw (HOF, small letters), Moran, Speaker (HOF, small letters), Tinker (HOF, small letters), Titus (small letters), White, Wilson, and Wolter. Five EX 5: Brown (HOF, large letters), Murray (small letters), Wallace (HOF, small letters), Walsh (HOF), and Wheat (HOF, small letters). The P2 Sweet Caporal pin set is one of the most substantial and overlooked of all baseball tobacco inserts. Because cards naturally get most of the attention among tobacco inserts, P2 pins represent one of the best values of all 1910-era tobacco issues. In addition, the professional grading of pins is relatively new. It will be interesting to see how the market will evolve in the years to come for pins in high grade from the most popular sets. The total SMR value for the group is $2,820. Total: 25 pins. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $1,304
