1965-1968 Donn Clendenon Signed Pro-Model Bat
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $533
Donn Clendenon H&B signature-model "G105" bat dating from the 1965 to 1968 manufacturing period. Graded a perfect GU 10 by PSA/DNA. The bat displays evidence of heavy use along its entire length, including numerous ball marks and stitch impressions, red and green rack marks, cleat marks, and a moderate application of pine tar on the handle. The handle also displays a wrap of white tape (applied in a spiral manner) extending ten inches from the knob. Clendenon has beautifully inscribed the bat in black marker (grading "10") on the "sweet spot" of the barrel: "Best Wishes/Donn Clendenon/1969 W.S. MVP/3 HR's 4RBI/BA 357." This bat dates to Clendenon's years with the Pirates. Clendenon joined the Mets in mid season of 1969 and helped spark the club to its first World Championship in franchise history. As he noted on the bat, Clendenon was the star of the 1969 World Series, thereby forever meriting a special place in the hearts of Mets fans and collectors today. This is the finest Clendenon bat we have ever seen, with the inscription adding all the more to its great appeal. Length: 36 inches. Weight: 36.5 ounces. LOAs from John Taube and Vince Malta of PSA/DNA and James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $533
