2003-2007 Derek Jeter Pro-Model Bat
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,541
Black Louisville Slugger Derek Jeter signature-model "P72" bat dating from the 2003-2007 manufacturing period. The bat displays outstanding use along its entire length, including several ball marks and ball-stitch impressions on the right, left, and back barrel, as well as cleat marks. Ideally, the ball marks feature blue-ink transfers and white leather scuffs, indicative of high-velocity impacts between ball and bat. A light application of Mota Stick has been applied to the handle. All of the center brand and barrel stampings remain deep and well defined. Few Yankee players have made such an impact upon their arrival as did Jeter in 1996. Jeter seemed to be the missing piece to the Yankees play-off puzzle and his Rookie of the Year performance that season helped lead the "Bronx Bombers" to their first World Championship in eighteen years. Since Jeter's debut, the Yankees have won seven pennants and five World Championships, not to mention eleven Division titles. Like Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, and Mantle before him, Jeter personifies the current Yankees dynasty and it seems assured that one day his plaque will hang both in Yankee Stadium's Monument Park and Cooperstown. Length: 34 inches. Weight: 31.5 ounces. LOA from John Taube and Vince Malta of PSA/DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,500+. SOLD FOR $1,541
