Rare McDonald's All-American Basketball Photo Plaque Collection (4)

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $296

The annual McDonald's All-American Game, which showcases the top high-school basketball players in the United States and Canada, is regarded as the foremost high-school all-star game of its kind. Selection to the team instantly endows each player with elite status in the basketball world. Not surprisingly, nearly all of the McDonald's All-American players go on to have fine collegiate careers, with many also graduating to the NBA. Offered here are four extremely rare team plaques commemorating, respectively, each McDonald's All-American Team for the years 1992, 1994, 1995, and 1988. Each masonite wall plaque, which measures 11 x 14 inches (with the exception of 1992; slightly larger), features portrait images of the respective players, along with brief biographical data, including their height, weight, high school, and position. It should be noted that these plaques are exceedingly rare. Only approximately 100 to 125 plaques were produced each year, and they were normally only distributed to team members, coaches, and a number of athletic directors (for display at each selected player's high school). These are the first examples we have ever seen, let alone offered. Featured on these plaques are a number of players who continued to shine on both the collegiate and professional levels. 1992: Jason Kidd, and Othella Harrington; 1994: Antoine Walker; 1995: Chauncey Billups, Vince Carter, Kevin Garnett, Stephon Marbury, Antwan Jamison, Paul Pierce, and Robert Traylor; 1998: Ronald Curry, Al Harrington, Richard Jefferson, Corey Maggette, and Quentin Richardson. The 1992 plaque displays a number of small, minor chips along the sides; otherwise all are in outstanding Near Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $296
