1921 Harry Houdini Signed B.P.O.E. Membership Card - Personally Presented as Gift by Houdini

Offered here is Harry Houdini's lifetime membership card to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.), a fraternal organization, that Houdini later inscribed and presented to a friend as a gift. The card, issued for the year "1921-22" by the "New York, N.Y., Lodge No. 1," makes note that "Harry Houdini is a Life Member in said Lodge, having become so on the 18 day of Feb. 1912." It has been signed in black fountain pen along the base by both Harry Houdini (grading "10") and the club secretary. Houdini's handwritten inscription and initials also appear along the top left portion of the card and read "Dear V. K. Put this one in your collection H. H." A second Houdini inscription appears on the top right portion of the card, where he adds "Of this there is only one." Houdini's inscription and initials are boldly scripted in black fountain pen and grade "10." The card (3.75 x 2.75 inches) displays one horizontal and two vertical folds, as well as a few minor creases and tiny edge tears. In Very Good condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Estimate $300.
