Seinfeld Signed Script and Al Hirschfeld Signed Limited-Edition Seinfeld
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,252
Seinfeld, which ran on NBC from 1989 through 1998, was a groundbreaking comedy and one of the most popular television shows of the 1990s. Both a commercial and critical success, the show also gave rise to a series of catch phrases and words that now are part of our popular culture, including "yada, yada, yada," "master of your domain," "shrinkage," and "Festivus" (for the rest of us). In 2002 TV Guide named Seinfeld the greatest television program of all time. Offered here are two exceptional pieces relating to the show. 1) Original Seinfeld script signed by Jerry Seinfeld in black marker (grading "10") on the cover. Seinfeld's signature is exceptionally large, measuring over seven inches in length, making it ideal for display. The script, numbered "04-0622" and dated "March 26, 1995," is a table draft for the season-six episode titled "Face Painter," written by Larry David. In this episode, Elaine, much to her dismay, discovers that her boyfriend, David Puddy, likes to paint his face when going to Devils hockey games. "Hey, I'm just trying to support the team." The sixty-three page script (8.5 x 11 inches) displays a few light stains on the covers and is otherwise in Excellent to Mint condition. 2) Limited-edition Al Hirschfeld "Artist Proof" lithograph, titled Seinfeld Finale, picturing the four principal Seinfeld cast members: Jerry, George, Kramer, and Elaine. Signed by Hirschfeld in pencil ("10") in the lower right and hand numbered "AP V/XV" in the lower left. 23 x 18.5 inches. The numbered editions of this lithograph were limited to only 100, with a small number of artist's proofs (only fifteen produced, as noted here), and printer's proofs (number unknown) also issued. Near Mint condition. Total: 2 items (script and lithograph). LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $2,252
