1930 Marx Amos 'n' Andy Fresh Air Taxi Cab Tin Litho Mechanical Windup Toy in Original Box
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $830
Amos 'n' Andy Fresh Air Taxi Cab, manufactured by the Louis Marx & Co., together with its rare original box. Dating from 1930, this was the most popular of the many Amos 'n' Andy toys produced by Marx at the time, and its desirability with collectors has not diminished over the years. The car, which is in working order, displays wear commensurate with its use and age, including a few light scratches and/or minor abrasions, and is complete with the original clear windshield piece that is commonly missing. In overall Excellent condition. Accompanied by its exceedingly rare original box (8 x 4 x 5 inches). Both end flaps appear to be detached, and the box is shrink-wrapped to maintain both its integrity and display value. Aside from the detached side flaps the box is in remarkable condition given its age and fragile nature. There is a tiny piece of vintage clear tape affixed to one of the side panels (not in repair of a tear) and other than a few light creases resulting from normal use, the box displays an overall Excellent appearance. Total: 2 items (tin car and its original box). Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $830
