1887 Allen & Ginter N9 "Flags Of All Nations" Cabinet-Card Collection (3)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $830
These three circa 1887 Allen & Ginter "N9 Flags of All Nations" cabinet cards (6 x 9.25 inches) were part of an extraordinary recently discovered find of extremely rare nineteenth-century nonsport tobacco items. These three exceptionally rare cabinets (China, Germany, and New Zealand) are designed from the N9 "Flags of All Nations" series. These are remarkable cards of an incredibly high production quality. Before we saw these, we didn't even know Allen & Ginter could make cards this extraordinary. Extremely thick and designed with beveled edges, these are simply unbelievable. They are also insanely rare. In all our years, these are the first of their kind that we have ever seen. We are not sure how they were issued and they do not appear to be listed in the ACC. But they're here. They exist. So they must have been produced and issued in some way. (They are so large and substantial; it is possible they were produced for store display.) Each cabinet card is bright and crisp from the front, and with light dusting on the reverse. In Excellent condition. Total: 3 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $830
