2009 World Series On-Deck Circles Used at Yankee Stadium - First World Series in New Yankee Stadium
Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $9,480
Pair of identical on-deck circles used at Yankee Stadium during the 2009 World Series between the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies, each of which bears a special MLB Authentication hologram label ("LH733153" and "LH733154"). Both of these specially produced on-deck circles, each measuring fifty-nine inches in diameter, are lettered "World Series 2009 Fall Classic" and bear the Major League Baseball logo. Both of the hologram numbers have been verified at the MLB website, which notes that the on-deck circle bearing the "LH733153" label was used by the Yankees for Games 1, 2, and 6 of the 2009 World Series, while the other was used by the Phillies. 2009 marked the first World Series in the new Yankee Stadium, which opened that year. Fittingly, the Yankees christened their new home by defeating the Phillies in six games to capture the club's twenty-seventh World Championship. Since these were the only two on-deck circles used at Yankee Stadium during the 2009 World Series, their rarity is apparent. That they date from the club's first World Championship in the New Yankee Stadium only adds to their historical significance. Each on-deck circle displays wear commensurate with its game-used and is in Excellent condition overall. It should be noted that these on-deck circles are constructed of pliable rubber topped with a vinyl surface (similar to that of a wrestling or gymnastics mat) and will be shipped rolled. Reserve $2,000. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $9,480
