1911-1914 D304 Brunners Bread Nap Lajoie

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,133

Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Incredibly crisp, clean, magnificent example of this rare and classic bakery card of Hall of Famer Nap Lajoie. The 1911 Brunners Bread is one of Lajoie's most interesting and distinctive cards. This is a very sharp looking card, with flawlessly brilliant colors, perfect registration, bright and clean, both front and back, beautifully centered, and with only the slightest touch of wear to the four strong, square corners. The full-length image of Lajoie running contrasts sharply against the bright blue and green background. The back of the card features advertising for Brunners Butter Krust brand bread and is boldly printed in green. This card has been downgraded from Excellent to Mint (its apparent grade at a glance - the card looks that impressive) due to an extremely light surface crease that runs down from the top border to the middle of the image (and which is difficult to see even when looking for it). Very conservatively graded by SGC; we grade this card slightly higher. This is a stunning example of one of Lajoie's most striking cards from this rare prewar food issue. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
