1911 Zeenut PCL Buck Weaver

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,666

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Very scarce and desirable Buck Weaver card from the 1911 Zeenut PCL series. One of the few and perhaps the most majestic of all issued cards featuring Weaver, a key member of the infamous 1919 "Black Sox." He is pictured in full uniform with San Francisco of the Pacific Coast League, before his Major League playing days with the Chicago White Sox. Due to its method of issue (one card per box of candy) and large size (2.25 x 4 inches), this card is usually found in far lower grade. The card is bright and crisp, with the lightest hint of wear on the corners, no creases, and centered slightly to the left. The blank reverse is also very clean with just a hint of light soiling. A very strong mid-grade example of what many collectors consider to be Weaver’s most attractive and desirable card from this scarce early minor-league issue. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000++. SOLD FOR $2,666
