1916 M101-5 Sporting News #57 Hap Felsch - Black Sox!
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,067
Graded NM 84 by SGC. Highest-graded example by SGC! Gorgeous ultra high-grade example of one of the very few baseball cards ever issued of the infamous “Black Sox” member Hap Felsch. There are very few cards of Felsch and his 1916 M101-5 Sporting News rookie card, with good reason, is universally recognized as one of his most attractive and significant cards. By 1919, Felsch was emerging as a top player, and might have even wound up in the Hall of Fame had he not been banned from baseball for his role in throwing the 1919 World Series. Bright and crisp, with four sharp corners, a tiny indentation is visible on the right edge (of no consequence), and centered slightly towards the right. The blank back is flawless. This is an exceptionally attractive, crisp, clean, conservatively graded example of what is considered by many to be Hap Felsch’s most desirable card. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,067
