1933 R305 Tattoo Orbit Collection (11)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,370
Collection of eleven (ten different) 1933 R305 Tattoo Orbit cards in extremely high grade, including two Hall of Famers. Seven cards have been graded and encapsulated by PSA. The collection consists of the following: Andrews SP (EX 5), Burns (EX-MT 6), two Grimm (both Ex), Grube (EX-MT 6), Haines (HOF, NM-MT 8), Jolley (Ex), Jurges (NM+ 7.5), O'Doul (Ex), Tinning (EX-MT+ 6.5), and P. Waner (EX-MT+ 6.5). Their striking colors, unusual size (2 x 2.25 inches), and rarity compared to other 1930s sets make Tattoo Orbits one of the most fascinating, distinctive, and difficult-to-complete of all sets from the 1930s. This classic 1930s gum-card set was issued by the Orbit Gum Co. of Chicago (a subsidiary of Wrigley’s) in 1933. Collectors have always appreciated the rarity and striking design of this distinctive issue. This is an extremely high-grade group of these unusual and scarce 1930s cards, representing 18% of a complete set. The SMR value for the seven graded cards (not including the four ungraded cards) is $3,090. Total: 11 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,370
