1949 Leaf PSA NM-MT 8 and NM 7 Collection (28 Different)
Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $3,555
Collection of twenty-eight different high-grade 1949 Leaf cards, including Hall of Famers Warren Spahn, Luke Appling, Lou Boudreau, and Joe Gordon, each graded and encapsulated by PSA (except two SGC). The PSA grades are as follows: Eleven NM-MT 8: #26 Chapman, 50 Wakefield, 56 Jansen, 61 Early, 65 Elliot RC, 73 Seerey, 82 Lindell, 95 Stirnweiss, 97 Marion RC, 111 Priddy, and 139 Hopp. Sixteen NM 7: #10 Trout, 14 Johnson, 27 Harris, 28 Hegan, 39 Blackwell RC, 42 Peterson, 47 Vico (SGC NM+ 86), 49 Ennis, 57 McCall, 59 Appling (HOF), 72 Edwards, 84 Hudson, 86 Weigel, 102 Hermanski (correct), 106 Boudreau (HOF), and 117 Gordon (HOF). One SGC EX/NM 80: #32 Spahn RC (HOF). The unusual and striking design, the exotic colors, the unusual poses, and the many great stars included all combine to make the 1948-1949 Leaf set one of the most enduring and popular of all baseball-card issues. This is a magnificent collection of high-grade 1949 Leafs, assembled by a very discriminating collector with a concern for condition and eye-appeal. These twenty-eight cards represent a very substantial running start toward the assembly of an extremely high grade complete set of the "standard" forty-nine cards in the set or would provide upgrades to virtually any world-class 1949 Leaf set in the process of being assembled. The SMR value for the assigned grades is $5,910. Total: 28 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000+.
