Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $5,629

1950 Bowman near-complete set of 242 different (out of 252 cards in set). This is an exceptionally attractive high-grade near-complete set. All the cards are graded and encapsulated by PSA (all 242 cards have been personally submitted to PSA over the past couple years by our consignor, now 87 years old, who collected back in the 1970s). Missing just ten common cards (#90, 110, 122, 168, 189, 192, 195, 218, 226, 237) for completion. This is a beautiful group. Seven VG 3: #1, 12, 18, 36, 52, 76, and 207. One GOOD 2: #208. The 1950 Bowman set is often overlooked by collectors simply because it does not include a Mantle or Mays rookie, but this was a landmark set in its day because it was the first postwar baseball issue to feature full-color artwork instead of photographs. We rarely have the opportunity to offer high-quality complete sets of 1950 Bowman and over the years have consistently found it to be among the most elusive sets of the era. This is a very attractive high-grade complete set (minus ten cards) of this classic early Bowman issue. The SMR value for the individual cards (not including the forty-four cards graded less then EX 5 and the three qualified cards) is $7,795. Total: 242 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate $4,000/$6,000+.
