Red Man Tobacco cards are far rarer than most 1950s baseball cards. Because of their tabs (which were designed to be cut) and method of issue, they often have condition problems. Compared to other issues from the 1950s, Red Mans are not only unique and substantial, they are also far rarer than the gum-card issues of the era. In addition, they are the last of the tobacco-card sets featuring ballplayers, as growing awareness of the dangers of tobacco soon made issuing cards with appeal to youngsters no longer appropriate. Many consider the Red Man sets among the best values of all cards from the era. This is very attractive complete set run of these unusual cards. The cards are bright and crisp, and (as is often the case with Red Mans) display far better than their technically accurate (and overall very impressive) assigned grades. The SMR value for just the eight SGC-graded cards (not including the 200 ungraded cards) is $3,775. Total: 208 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $14,220
