1954 Topps Complete Set (250)
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $5,036
70% range from Ex to Nr/Mt (averaging Ex-Mt), 30% Vg to Vg-Ex (with a couple slightly lesser). The 1954 Topps set has always been one of the most popular sets of the 1950s. Issued in the heart of the decade, the 1954 Topps set features the rookie cards of Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, and Al Kaline, among many other Hall of Famers and stars, including two examples of Ted Williams (first and last card in the set), all in brilliant and stunning color. Four cards have been graded by SGC. Keys: #1 Williams (Vg-Ex), 3 Irvin (Ex), 10 Robinson (Vg-Ex), 13 Martin (Ex), 17 Rizzuto (Vg-Ex), 20 Spahn (Ex), 30 Mathews (Vg-Ex), 32 Snider (Ex), 36 Wilhelm (Ex), 37 Ford (Ex), 45 Ashburn (Ex/Ex-Mt), 50 Berra (Ex/Ex-Mt), 70 Doby (Ex-Mt), 90 Mays (SGC EX+ 70), 94 Banks RC (Ex), 102 Hodges (Ex), 128 Aaron RC (SGC EX 60), 132 Lasorda RC (Nr/Mt), 201 Kaline RC (SGC EX 60), 239 Skowron RC (Ex-Mt), and 250 Williams (SGC NM 84). This is a very attractive and with few exceptions extremely consistent complete set of this early 1950s classic, with tremendous eye-appeal throughout. Technically the set falls into the "very strong medium" grade category. It would be hard to imagine a true collector looking at this set and thinking anything but "Wow!" Early sets in this grade are especially desirable, and are among the most outstanding and least volatile values in the world of vintage cards. The equivalent SMR value for just the four SGC-graded cards (not including the 246 ungraded cards) is $1,965. Total: 250 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. SOLD FOR $5,036
