1955 Topps Complete Set (206)

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,963

50% range in grade from Ex to Ex-Mt, 40% range in grade from Vg to Vg-Ex, and 10% lesser grades. Highlighted by a particularly strong example of key rookie card #164 Roberto Clemente (SGC EX 60). This is the type of vintage set that many collectors consider the very best value. The cards are classic, they look great, and they don't cost a fortune compared to higher-grade cards. In many cases, in the highest grades, a few commons from an early 1950s set can be valued at more than an entire set such as this, and when it comes time to selling, a set such as this will actually generate far more interest from collectors as well, precisely because they are more affordable. We have selected three cards to be graded by SGC. Keys: #1 Rhodes (Gd), 2 Williams (Vg), 4 Kaline (Gd), 28 Banks (Ex), 31 Spahn (Ex-Mt), 47 Aaron (Vg), 50 Robinson (SGC EX 60), 92 Zimmer RC (Vg-Ex), 100 Irvin (Ex), 120 Kluszewski (Vg), 123 Koufax RC (SGC VG/EX 50), 124 Killebrew RC (Vg-Ex), 125 Boyer (Ex), 152 Agganis RC (Vg-Ex), 155 Mathews (Ex), 164 Clemente RC (SGC EX 60), 187 Hodges (Vg), 189 Rizzuto (Vg-Ex), 194 Mays (Fr), 198 Berra (Fr), and 210 Snider (Fr). This is a very attractive complete set of the classic 1955 Topps issue, technically in mid-grade but appearing even stronger, and with many condition highlights. Total: 206 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000. SOLD FOR $2,963
