1962 Topps "Babe Ruth Story" Complete PSA-Graded Subset (10)
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,555
Unbelievably high-grade collection of ten different (complete subset) cards from the popular 1962 Topps issue devoted to the career and life of Babe Ruth, each graded and encapsulated by PSA. This is an incredible group! Each card has four razor-sharp corners, a flawless image, and near-perfect centering. Six cards are graded PSA MINT 9, two cards are graded NM-MT+ 8.5, and two cards are graded PSA NM-MT 8. The PSA grades are as follows: MINT 9: #135 Babe as a Boy (none graded higher), 137 Babe and Huggins (none graded higher), 138 The Famous Slugger (none graded higher), 140 Gehrig and Ruth (none graded higher), 141 Twilight Years (none graded higher), and 143 Greatest Sports Hero (none graded higher). NM-MT+ 8.5: #142 Coaching Dodgers and 144 Farewell Speech. NM-MT 8: #136 Babe Joins Yanks (only two graded higher) and 139 Babe Hits 60 (only three graded higher). The legend of Babe Ruth naturally cast a long shadow during the home-run race of 1961, resulting in Topps issuing of this tremendously popular subset in tribute to Ruth in 1962. Each card represents a significant contribution or potential upgrade to even the most astounding ultra high-grade 1962 Topps set. The SMR value for this group is $3,030. Total: 10 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $3,555
