1960-1963 Topps and Fleer Hall of Famer Card Collection Including Mantle, Clemente, Mays, Koufax (23 cards)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $948
Collection of twenty-three cards of Hall of Famers (and major stars such as Roger Maris) issued by Topps and Fleer, spanning the years 1960 to 1963, featuring noteworthy key cards from five different quality issues, highlighted by five Mickey Mantle cards. This is a small but very substantial collection of classic postwar cards (assembled decades ago by our consignor as a representative collection of great stars). Six of the cards are graded and encapsulated by PSA (submitted by REA). The collection consists of the following: 1) 1960 Topps (5 cards): #73 Gibson (Vg-Ex), 160 Mantle/Boyer (Vg-Ex), 200 Mays (Ex), 326 Clemente (PSA VG-EX 4), and 563 Mantle AS (clear tape on back, otherwise Ex-Mt). 2) 1961 Topps (8 cards): #141 B. Williams (Ex), 150 Mays (Ex), 160 Ford (Ex-Mt), 290 Musial (Vg-Ex), 300 Mantle (PSA EX 5), 478 Mantle MVP (trimmed), 484 Aaron MVP (Vg), and 586 Ford AS (Ex-Mt). 3) 1962 Topps (2 cards): #300 Mays (Vg-Ex/Ex) and 471 Mantle (PSA NM 7). 4) 1963 Topps (3 cards): #120 Maris (paper loss on back, otherwise Ex-Mt), 210 Koufax (PSA NM 7), and 472 Brock (Nr/Mt-Mt). 5) 1963 Fleer (5 cards): #4 B. Robinson (pinhole at top, otherwise Ex), 5 Mays (pinhole at top, otherwise Ex-Mt), 42 Koufax (PSA EX-MT 6), 45 Spahn (pinhole at top, otherwise Ex-Mt), and 56 Clemente (PSA PR 1). This is an impressive collection of Hall of Famers and major stars from some of the postwar era’s most popular sets. Every card is a highlight! The SMR value for just four graded cards (not including the two cards graded less than EX 5 and the seventeen ungraded cards) is $630. Total: 23 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $948
